Revolutionizing Smartphone Usability: Replace the Battery Without Turning Off

New Smartphone Lets You Replace the Battery Without Turning It Off
RugOne has unveiled the new Xever 8, a rugged smartphone that brings back a feature many thought had disappeared from the mobile industry: the removable battery.
But there’s a twist.
In a rare move for 2026, users can replace the battery without powering off the phone or interrupting what they’re doing.
According to the company, its new Swappable Battery 2.0 system keeps the device running during the battery swap, allowing users to continue phone calls, messaging, web browsing, and video playback without interruption.
RugOne says the battery replacement can be completed seamlessly as long as it takes place within two minutes. After that period, the device enters a 60-second security lock mode designed to protect user data.
The Xever 8 ships with two 4,800mAh batteries included in the box, significantly extending battery life for people who work far from power outlets or require continuous operation throughout the day.
The company also highlights a dual-lock safety mechanism designed to keep the battery securely attached even during impacts and drops.
To complement the system, the phone includes a 4-in-1 charging station that can charge the device and manage multiple batteries more conveniently.
Durability is another major focus.
The Xever 8 carries IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certifications, indicating resistance to water, dust, and harsh environmental conditions.
The device is clearly aimed at users who need a more rugged smartphone, including:
outdoor workers,
campers,
cyclists,
and frequent travelers.
At the same time, RugOne says it has attempted to avoid the bulky appearance typically associated with rugged devices by creating a thinner and lighter design.
The rest of the specifications include:
6.5-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate,
Android 16 out of the box,
8GB of RAM with dynamic expansion,
128GB or 256GB of storage,
and a promise of up to three years of major Android updates.
For photography, the phone features:
a 64MP main camera,
a 20MP night vision camera,
and a 32MP front-facing camera.
RugOne is also emphasizing audio as a selling point.
The Xever 8 includes the SonicX Super Speaker system, which the company claims can reach up to 117 dB while using AI-powered audio processing to enhance voices, bass response, and surround-sound effects.
In short, the Xever 8 isn’t trying to compete with traditional flagship smartphones through ultra-premium design or cutting-edge camera technology.
Instead, it focuses on durability, battery endurance, and a feature that has almost vanished from modern smartphones:
the ability to swap a battery in seconds and keep using the phone as if nothing happened.
